Can You Identify this Item Discovered in my Mexican Food?

On Tuesday the wife and I went to Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant (Mobile hwy, Pensacola, fl) which is a favorite of ours.

I realized some time ago that if you fill up on the free chips and salsa before the food comes, you get more leftovers to bring home. This was the plan, and it was executed to perfection.

The next day for lunch, I opened the fridge and dove straight to the leftover chimichanga, rice, and refried beans. I wasn't really paying attention to the food itself, until I started chewing something hard and crunchy..

"it must just be a burnt part of the tortilla or a chip that got into the beans" I thought as i continued to chew. . .

Long story short, I swallowed most of it, but spit out the rest---

Now I dont know what this is, and perhaps you do. All I know is that it was only a part of something larger.

Is it a bug? a beetle with pinchers maybe?

Is it part of some plant? it could be a burr (or "sticker" depending on what part of the country you're from) off something.

Or perhaps it's a Mexican delicacy that I'm just unfamiliar with.

Well, take a look, and let me know your theory. . . .
